Next Engine 3d Scanner

We have a structured light scanner from Next Engine.  It’s not as precise/good as other 3d-scanning methods but is vastly more cost effective.  If you’re away from the lab, here’s a pdf of their working manual that will help get you started.

An Xbox Kinect is also available in the lab for scanning purposes

Band Saw

We own a JET 14″ Bandsaw. Make sure you ask for help if you’ve never used a bandsaw before.  Manual Here

Guidelines:

  • Always wear safety glasses!
  • Roll up sleeves, tuck in any loose clothing, remove jewlery, and no gloves.
  • Use wood chocks to keep your hands as far away from the blade as possible

Drill Press

The drill press can be used to drill precise holes, counter-sink holes, etc. 

Electronics Station

This station is equipped with everything you could need to prototype with electronics. We have several bench top power supplies, soldering irons, hot glue guns, vises, etc.
