Capstone Design Expo Fall 2011

The Capstone Design Expo was a huge success last semester! Teams developing biomedical devices won 1st, 2nd, and third at the event. Projects included Heart-Thromb, a device which determines how a patient’s blood is clotting- helping doctors prescribe more personalized doses of a popular anti-clotting drug.  The team included  mechanical engineering seniors Siddharth Gurnani, Nicholas Turturro, Kelly Hefelfinger, Oscar Martinez and Pranav Gandhi with advisor Craig Forest, assisant professor of mechanical engineering.

Capstone Design is the senior design course for mechanical engineers at Georgia Tech.  It synthesizes four years of classwork in an intense semester of market analysis, design, and prototyping.  Multiple startups have been spun out of the class. This end of semester competition highlights the best projects from the largest engineering program in the country.
