This summer, changes have been brewing around the studio. At the end of each semester, the lobby between our three rooms is always packed with students fabricating, assembling and generally scrambling to get projects done. The ME department has recognized the need for more fab space and graciously offered to renovate this lobby area to better support student design and assembly! It’s still a work in progress, but some pictures of the updates are below.
Other updates:
- The laser cutters have arrived! With the help of the GT Technology Fee, the invention studio has been able to purchase two new 120W laser cutters. Already among the most used machines in the studio, they will help alleviate long lines during peak hours.
- A new vinyl cutter! This has already proven extremely useful for sign making around the studio.
- A new spot welding station: great for assembling battery packs!
